OACP SSPO Test – Ontario Police Assessment
Ontario police constable applicants are no longer tested using the Police Analytical Thinking Inventory (PATI). The current OACP Certificate process uses the SSPO as its Part B cognitive assessment.
OACP Certificate Part B: SSPO
The SSPO assesses the judgment, problem-solving and written-report skills needed in policing. Its current format is 74 multiple-choice questions in 35 minutes:
- 44 Incident Report Writing Aptitude questions covering spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation.
- 30 Police Problem Solving questions using written scenarios, policies, maps, floor plans, numerical information and basic mental arithmetic.

Police Ready now includes 8 full-length OACP SSPO-style practice assessments for Ontario members. Each assessment contains 74 original questions, follows a 35-minute timer and provides detailed answer explanations plus performance tracking.
- 592 original practice questions across eight assessments
- Realistic spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation items
- Police problem-solving scenarios with maps and floor plans
- Timed attempts, detailed solutions and repeat practice
Existing PATI material remains available as supplemental skill-building practice, but candidates preparing for the current Ontario process should begin with the OACP SSPO practice section.
